Prerequisites

Open to those who have received pointing-out instructions in the mahamudra tradition, and are practicing mahamudra shamatha-vipashyana meditation. If you did not participate in Elixir I, it is recommended that you listen to those recorded talks and do the readings and meditations.  Elixir I includes eight sessions. The first four took place in the Spring of 2024, and the final four in 2025.

Mahamudra Elixir II Starts September 17th

This five-part series will focus on key points in Moonbeams of Mahamudra from chapter 10, Pointing-Out, and chapter 11, Sustaining Mahamudra. As with our previous series,  each session includes guided meditation, a talk, and discussion on an assigned topic of contemplation from the previous session. The first and last key points are summed up in these two quotations:

Third Karmapa, Rangjung Dorje

[Mind-itself] is empty in essence yet clear in nature,
and its manifestations appear unimpededly as anything at all.

Saraha

All appearances and sounds are like illusions,
mirages, and reflections: they have no real characteristics.
The perceiver of illusions is mind-itself, space.

There will be handouts for each session but it is recommended that everyone have a copy of Moonbeams of Mahamudra, translated by Elizabeth.

There will be no assigned discussion topic for the first session.

Moonbeams of Mahamudra is available from Shambhala Publications
