There are so many lines that gave me a pause in this talk. I love this Q & A:
“S: Rinpoche, could you explain what attribute would accommodate the manifestation of prajna, the mother aspect?
V: I think it’s like when you throw a stone in a very still pond – there are ripples that express that you have thrown a stone into the pond. … It is expressing its own existence through demonstrating, exhibiting, some form of glamour – in the form of passion, aggression, being seductive, whatever it maybe.”
Ego always somehow finds its way in, even in compassion and kindness practices. What I find helps me get out of the vicious circle is to accept the totality of the situation, including my embarrassing, unskillful thoughts and responses.
Just like Mark said in his reply, the path is built as we go, on our obstacles. I guess in this sense, we don’t need to reject whatever comes up. The fact that we are discussing this means we have some awareness of our delusion, which is good.
