This is a good question to ask Elizabeth.

The question and the answer would be useful for many of us.

    Thank you

Thank you Blaire. I read that section a few times and couldn’t understand it. The mother of all Buddhas. And by reading your post, somehow something clicked, a moment of understanding.

It is also a counter  to our conventional thinking that we are solid and space is space.

Hi Jeanie, I was reading recently on the first skandha of Form, the 5 faculties ( sense consciousnesses) and the five sense objects. It was said that there are tangible objects for each sense consciousness: visual objects, sounds, smells, tastes and tangible objects of touch and that for each sense object, some are perceived by most people, some are perceived by people/beings who have different lower or higher levels of realizations. It was mentioned that in what we perceived as “tangible” by the body, there are sensations like soft, rough, light, heavy, flexible, hard, tight, hunger, thirst, heat, sickness, aging , resting, healing, strength, satisfaction, unease.

The 6th mental consciousness can perceive sensory intangible objects and this is what you might be referring towhee you write sound of emptiness or visions: those are extremely fine particules not detectable or accessible through our sense faculties but it still relates to them. Exemple: the reflection of a mountain in water is not the mountain itself, yet it has a form or a color or a movement. The forms that appear in our mind when we think or when we dream. There are some physical forms created in our mental consciousness who reveals a meaning  like prostrations, holding hands in anjali and more subtle physical forms like taking vow and doing visualizations. These are forms created in our consciousness, almost like an image or a sound, that can be perceived by realized beings.  It is said that when we take vows, it creates a mental form in the 6th consciousness  and if we break our vow, this form starts to dissolve and it can be perceived by clairvoyant people. Basically it is all related to the 6 consciousnesses. It’s quite wonderful.
