Evan became an accidental meditator back in 2004 when he realized that Samsara was here to stay. He started at the Insight Meditation Community of Washington with Tara Brach, then road tripped through Nepal and Tibet, and journeyed amongst the Shambhala Centers in Albany, Durham, and Baltimore while taking Refuge and Bodhisattva Vows. Later, he served on the Governing Council in Baltimore as Rusung realizing how precious protecting our human hearts and basic sanity can be. Since 2024, he has gone deeper into how anxiety, depression, ambiguous loss, and neurospicy distraction are gifts for opening into stillness, enough-ness, and joy. His path has been greatly enriched with the Three Yanas Sangha whereupon he entered the Vajrayana with Judy Lief and Ani Pema Chödron. Currently, he is active with both Shambhala Online and co-leading the Three Yana’s MI Training, and was recently selected to take part in the Three Yanas Teacher Training Program where he continues to unpack the tremendous treasures of his root guru, the Vidyadhara Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, and the larger Ri-mé tradition. He also is a surgical physician assistant on an international disaster response team, 20-year ski patroller, former raft guide, stargazer and potential astronaut in his next life, and avid cook who thinks with his stomach more than he admits.
