Report from a group of new Vajrayogini practitioners on retreat

Since 2021 a strong Ngöndro, and now Vajrayogini, sangha has grown within Ocean in the Vidyadhara’s lineage. Within the wider community, a group of about twenty practitioners from all over the world has been meeting almost daily on Zoom thanks to Ocean. This refuge was precious through Covid and the years that followed, when the world itself seemed to wobble and crack. As connections strengthened from daily practice, we included time for people to gather before practice and engage socially. We soon added a “first Monday” discussion time devoted to exploring the teachings and our experience with practice. This created a deep intimacy within our group.

Over the years we provided vital support for one another to complete Ngöndro. In 2024, we were blessed to receive the Vajrayogini Abhisheka. As new sadhakas, we held an aspiration for all of us to one day gather in person to practice together. That dream was realized this past September when we did a self-guided retreat at Casa Garuda in Italy. Practitioners brought their significant others, so our entire “family” was together for the first time! Hugging people in the flesh we had only experienced in Zoom boxes for over four years was incredible!

This journey would have never happened without Ocean. Through our steady rhythm of shared practice many strong bonds have formed. We have supported one another deeply, both in practice and in life. We are profoundly grateful to Ocean for holding this rare atmosphere and for the warm, lived-in virtual gompa where we continue to meet, practice, and, in a very real sense, live together.

If you are inspired to join our Vajrayogini practice group we meet on Wednesdays at 1:00 pm Eastern time and Fridays at 12:30 pm Eastern in the Ocean Vajrayogini Shrine room.  All Vajrayogini practitioners are welcome!
