Barbara took Refuge in the Buddhist tradition with Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche in 1971. She attended the Vajradhatu Seminary in 1973. Under the direction of Rinpoche she began teaching in the Buddhist tradition in 1974 and in the Shambhala Tradition in 1977. She has held a variety of teaching and administrative positions since 1975 and although she is currently retired from administrating continues to teach both the Buddhist and Shambhala paths.
