Announcement of Fall Class at at Ri-mé Society: Essential Instructions for Life and Death Luminous Emptiness:
This online course is offered by Ri-mé Society, Mondays, Oct. 12 – Dec. 14, 2020, 10 classes. 7pm – 9pm. Open to everyone
Understanding the Tibetan Book of the Dead by Francesca Fremantle.
The Tibetan Book of the Dead and the masterful guide and commentary to it in the book Luminous Emptiness, provide spiritual teachings that strike to the core of spiritual practice, and are applicable in any situation, particularly in moments and periods of transition. Their basic message is that of continual opportunity, in each moment, in life and in death, to wake up from confusion to basic wisdom and sanity.
This course will be in two separate class sections. During the Fall of 2020, we will address the first ten chapters of Luminous Emptiness, which cover the foundational teachings relevant to The Tibetan Book of the Dead as a guide for awakening to reality. The second segment of the class, in the Spring of 2021, will focus directly on the text of The Tibetan Book of the Dead, with Francesca Fremantle’s commentary and other resources. We also plan to include sessions on the realities and practicalities of working with death and dying — for ourselves and for others.
